Jab Crossfit

The CrossFit program is a strength and conditioning system based on constantly varied, functional movements, executed at a relative high intensity. At Jab CrossFit we will work on form, efficiency, and mobility to create an all-around better you!

With a small gym and lots of athletes in class there is a really safe way to carry your barbells to and from the rack! Carrying them perpendicular is safe and will prevent "clotheslining" a fellow athlete or a heavy bag 😉. #trainsafetrainoften

[02/15/17]   Fill in the blank! "Crossfit helps me...."

Wanted to give a shout out to a Jab Crossfit athlete, today! Amado has been one of the most consistent athletes at our gym for over 2 years. Not only does he take Crossfit 5x a week but he almost always stays the rest of the evening for karate and Muay Thai as well! Talk about AWESOME!! I asked Amado a few questions about how Crossfit has made a difference in his life:
1. What brought you to Jab Crossfit?
My little brother has a knack for effectively kicking and punching everything--toys, furniture, air, etc. As a result, I began taking him to Alpha's Kenpo Karate program. My younger sister joined Kenpo shortly thereafter. I love to stay active and was looking for another activity to try. I saw that Alpha also offered classes for adults, including Crossfit. After my first class with Coach Tyler, I was hooked and slowly started to integrate myself into Alpha's various classes.
2. How has Crossfit made a difference in your life?
The Jab Crossfit community has been an incredible source of inspiration. My coaches and fellow athletes have created a safe space where individuals of all beautiful sizes, shapes, and fitness levels are welcome. Every time I train, I'm motivated by the commitment and grit each person in our community possesses.
3. What progress have you noticed in your fitness from doing Crossfit?
I've noticed a huge positive impact in my personal fitness after joining Jab Crossfit. My fellow athletes and I constantly challenge our physical and mental limits during the WODs. Combining Crossfit with my dance and swim training has taught me to be more aware of my body. I love learning new movements and how to efficiently move my body to achieve maximum output/benefits--double unders, deadlifts, and squats are my jam! I keep track of my progress and set short/long-term goals because there are always opportunities for improvement and growth. With our coaches' emphasis on proper technique, injuries are prevented so that I'm able to Crossfit the next day and energized to pursue other activities that I love.
Haha @ 4. Do you know how awesome you are?!
The coaches and community of athletes is what makes Jab Crossfit awesome. Beyond grateful for you all

The Pistol

The Crossfit Open begins next week and we never know what Dave Castro will throw into the workouts! This week we are working on a progression to the pistol squat. This is a very tricky movement and one we don't do a lot. See you in the gym!
